Michael’s mastery of Tai Chi, along with his calm and soothing communication skills permits him to unlock the real magic of this soft martial art. Sure, one can participate in a combatives class, but the practice of the smooth, elegant forms build to routines that limber and strengthen every muscle and bone. Michael and Julie capitalize on research that proves Tai Chi improves osteoporosis, reduces blood pressures, enhances balance and builds self confidence. Their objective is to guide students to understand their personal wellness, to practice relaxation during daily activities while enjoying healthy living. Sadly, our move from Colorado Springs and my frequent treks to participate in Michael’s classes have ended, but I still see Michael several days a week on YouTube and with his ‘on-line’ course… which incidentally permits Michael to offer more detailed information regarding the form we’re practicing. Knowing the origin of the form, the application, the so subtle nuances of the forms are enhanced with Michael and Julie’s on-line programs. For me, Tai Chi practice has been my most effective pain management program, permitting me to avoid prescription medications and prolonged physical therapy. Tai Chi Association of Colorado Springs at The Trestle Building is a temple of health.

In over a decade of martial and longevity arts practice, I have trained with many many teachers, and never one more knowledgable, graceful, or of a more genuine lineage than Master Michael Paler. For every instructor I have trained with, I have met a dozen senior students. And never have I been as impressed with a group of advanced students as the ones at the Tai Chi Association. Although many of the students there have development very high skill levels, they are all very patient and gentle, allowing for a efficient transfer of knowledge to beginners. Master Paler and his partner Julie have done an incredible job of creating a safe space that is welcoming to all comers, regardless of whether one's primary ambition is martial prowess or health and longevity.

One of the best Tai Chi instructor in the US, Michael Paler is dedicated to his students’ health through the practice of Tai Chi - beginners to advanced . Hired to instruct at the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, he is personally approachable for advice and questions from all his students. I am approaching 70 years old and Tai Chi has helped me physically and mentally. My balance, movement and attitude are significantly improved. Julie Paler is superb with customer service and running the day-to-day operation and is a highly qualified Tai Chi instructor in her own right. If you want to learn Tai Chi, this is the real deal.

Today is my one-year anniversary of taking classes at TCAofCS and it has changed my life and my sport. Every aspect of my living has been improved by instruction here and especially in swimming where I am now a US Masters National Champion. I credit Tai Chi with a great deal of this as I now approach racing with a calm mind and heart and much, much greater awareness of my movement in the pool. Thank you Julie & Michael for making such a wonderful place!

What a difference Tai Chi has made in my life - my Post Polio nerve pain is gone, all joint pain is so much less, and recovery of the 9 vertebrae fusion I had 15 years ago is amazing.
I started Tai Chi with Michael 8 years ago, and now at 72, and still standing straight, I can bend to lift my grandkids, play golf and tennis, have great balance, shovel the Colorado snow and have the energy level of a person half my age.
Learning the right way to practice Tai Chi is an amazing experience and gives us a chance to live a better and fuller life.
The warm up exercises are like a complete body workout without the stress, as you do them at your own pace. It's something I still find time to do every day because I know how great both body and mind feel afterwards.
I am so thankful to have been introduced to Tai Chi and Michael when I was struggling with a way to get my life back after a really difficult time.

Wonderful Tai Chi Association led by Michael Paler, Yang style lineage holder and excellent teacher, and his gracious wife Julie, herself an experienced practitioner. Tai Chi engages my mind, body, and sense of wellbeing. I have developed new skills, new movement patterns and perceptions, experienced deeper and deeper levels of relaxation, and improved balance and health. I have found new understandings of relating with self and others through guided partner work and martial art applications. After some COVID absence I returned to Tai Chi, and I am inspired by and appreciate a depth and range of diversity and skill that is emerging at the Tai Chi Association. There are warmup and beginner/intermediate classes given with clear instruction. There is a very enjoyable advanced class led by Howard Drossman for more experienced practitioners. Talented and longer term students are being certified to teach specific Yang style forms. I am growing specially from Michael’s Old Six Roads class, which is revealing internal Tai Chi and Qigong principles that Michael has worked with for years. Bottom line for me is continual discovery, learning, letting go, and dealing with change, while mastering specific skills. Fun! Worth checking out this Studio!
